Marulk guides Riko and Reg through the camp and tells them its history. Marulk and Reg manage to find some common ground, and Marulk shares his history: Ozen saved him and made him her apprentice, so that he wouldn't have to return to the surface, as his eyes are too sensitive to light. Riko guesses that despite Ozen's cold exterior, she is a good master. Marulk agrees, and invites Riko and Reg to stay at the Seeker Camp so he can spend more time with them, as there is no one else around his age. Riko reluctantly refuses, because she is concerned about her mother. Marulk happily replies that in that case, they should do all their talking now.[3]
It takes a while to figure out what exactly makes Ozen the Immovable such a deeply unsettling figure. It would be easy to point out the brief moments throughout the episode where her sleepy façade slips and you catch a glimpse of the endless, empty darkness in her eyes, but that'd only be part of it. What eventually becomes clear as this episode progresses is that Ozen's impact as a character is a perfect microcosm of what makes Made in Abyss so special; like almost everything about the show, Ozen is fine-tuned to perfectly express a very particular aspect of the Abyss' greater nature.
The scene where the creature crawls after Riko does an excellent job of showing just why Ozen might find Riko's quest so baffling and amusing. So many anime write their preteen characters as twenty-somethings trapped in the bodies of young people, but Made in Abyss does an incredible job of making Reg and Riko feel like honest children. Riko may be fiercely determined and armed with a robot sidekick, but when she sees that horrifying beast roaming Ozen's halls, she makes a dive under her blanket like any kid would. The bed-wetting that follows is the episode's only slightly forced moment, bluntly reinforcing what the previous scene already communicated perfectly.
Episode 6's surreal cliffhanger sees Ozen opening the grand oak doors of her highest chambers to reveal a cube, and if I had any complaints, it might be that this is the first time I've felt the pang of Made in Abyss' very deliberate pacing. Every episode up until now has worked equally as both a standalone adventure and a piece of the show's larger puzzle, and this episode is the first time I've felt the show lose that balance a little bit. That's a very minor complaint to have though, since this episode manages to introduce one of the best characters of the year in just 22 minutes; I can only imagine what the next half hour might bring.
Made in Abyss is a Japanese anime television series based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. The anime television series adaptation was announced in December 2016.[1] The 13-episode series aired from July 7 to September 29, 2017, on AT-X, Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TVQ, Saga TV, and BS11.,[2][3][4] and covers content from volumes 1 through 3. The final episode was a 1-hour long special.[4] The series was directed by Masayuki Kojima and written by Hideyuki Kurata, with animation by Kinema Citrus and character designs by Kazuchika Kise.[1] Australian artist Kevin Penkin composed the soundtrack for the anime.[5][4] Miyu Tomita and Mariya Ise performed both the opening theme "Deep in Abyss" and the ending theme "Tabi no Hidarite, Saihate no Migite", the latter in collaboration with Shiori Izawa).[6] The first season premiered on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block starting on January 16, 2022.[7]
Later on, Prushka is dismembered in the laboratory by Bondrewd. Riko realizes from a heartfelt dream about Prushka that Bondrewd possesses a rare relic called Zoaholic, which can allow him to disperse his consciousness into his Umbra Hands. Formulating a plan for Reg to recharge using the electricity powering Ido Front, Riko and Nanachi follow Meinya to a storage room full of cartridges, specialized packages made from the flesh and essence of humans. Suddenly discovered by Bondrewd, he reveals to them that he used his original body to create his White Whistle. Bondrewd is interrupted when a fully charged and out of control Reg breaks into the room and mounts a ferocious attack against Bondrewd while destroying everything around him indiscriminately. He is brought back to his senses by Nanachi but is dragged down into the Miniature Garden of Dawn by an Umbra Hand. There he faces off against Bondrewd once more while Nanachi guides Reg to the surface as the water bastion from above collapses around them. As Bondrewd chases Reg upwards, his body is fully transformed through the Curse of the sixth layer. In order to protect himself, Bondrewd uses the Blessing, ejecting all the profusely bleeding cartridges, including that of Prushka. Working together, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi manage to defeat Bondrewd, with Riko using Reg's severed Incinerator to cut Bondrewd's body in half. As his current body expires, Bondrewd praises Nanachi and reveals that his new aspiration is for Nanachi to push forward.
The previous episode ended on a major cliffhanger, making fans eager to watch the new episode. It's been a while since Riko continued his search for Reg and Nanachi, but his search has taken him to Belaf's home, where he discovers Nanachi being targetted by Belaf. Nanachi traded himself to Belaf in order to make him stop using Mitty as a food source, but now Belaf is asking for a hefty price from Riko for Nanachi and Mitty's freedom.
Made in Abyss Season 2 has been confirmed for a total of 12 episodes, which means fans will only have 6 more episodes to watch after the latest one releases this week. Compared to Season 1, we are getting one less episode this time. But as the series is getting positive reviews from the fans, news of the show's renewal will likely be shared soon.

In case you are interested in seeing more Ozen, chapters 13-17 of the manga correspond to episodes 6-8 of the anime. The adaptation has been fantastic, but imo the depiction of Ozen in the manga is uniquely terrifying and definitely worth checking out.
The momentum stayed at a impressive steady pace. Here, once very powerful and emotional scenes conclude, the episode feels as though it is barely moving, which caused me to check the time, wondering how much was left of the episode.
Before it commits to its first swing, the show sets its sights on a wonderful setup within its starting three episodes. In the first episode, most of the character introductions and an initial glimpse at this bizarre place take place. In the second episode, the show gives the audience a better understanding of what is and will be going on. And in the third episode, a goal is established, providing the (only) necessary direction for the journey to head towards.
Within the remaining ten episodes, Made in Abyss creates a thrilling fantasy adventure worthy of the copious praise it has received. The fantastic world-building within stands chief among its successes. From the interesting flora and fauna to the unstated details that flesh out the gaps in-between, the anime has a clear command of how to build a lush, vibrant world. In doing so, the framework for the story takes shape, forming an extremely sturdy platform for it to stand upon.
This week's installment had it all, comedy, serious emotional stakes, an amazing lookin' creature and an ending we'll be talking about all week. Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Episode 6 is easily one of my favorite episodes so far.
We learned that Joe's platoon was killed and he was the only survivor. Though it seemed pretty obvious Joe was the wendigo, I loved that the episode became about saving him. Also, the connection with Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Episode 4 and the crushed bone flute was excellent. Now we know how Henry used that powder.
Ichabod made the connection between Joe and the creature very quickly this week. Of course the similarities were pretty darn obvious. Once again, Ichabod's history lesson informed us that he and Daniel Boone were pals. It turned out that raccoon hat hid a terrible scar inflicted by his own brother. This show's version of history is ridiculously entertaining isn't it?
In Joe's apartment we learned Cobin left something buried for him at Pioneer Point. When Abbie and Ichabod confronted him, Joe made a run for it. I wasn't surprised Ichabod cut himself during the chase; we needed that wendigo action. The transformation that followed was one of the best I think we've ever seen on Sleepy Hollow. Can you imagine that thing coming that close to your face? No thanks.
Abbie: That's what made me change. I wanted to be a part of that.Joe: You know I always felt like there was something wrong with me. Like I wasn't enough for him.Abbie: No Joe, he just had such a big heart he couldn't stop helping people. That's just who he was. You have to know he was crazy about you and so proud. That's why he passed you the torch, you're his son. You were his world.Joe: I miss him you know?Abbie: I do too. No matter how bad it got between you guys he always loved you.
By the way, how did Henry know how to find them? Joe agreed to turn over the poison to avoid a bloodbath. Poor guy, he should have listened to Abbie. We all know Henry can not be trusted. Did you expect Henry would trigger the wendigo? Though I wasn't expecting it, it made total sense.
Faced with the need to present something worthy enough to buy Nanachi back from Belaf, Riko contemplates the difficulty of continuing to the center of the abyss should she give up any body parts. Just as she is about to concede, Majikaja quickly stops Riko from finishing her bargain. They claim everything will be over once she makes the deal, implying that Riko will die -- or perhaps be tricked into losing more than she plans to offer. 781b155fdc
