Dragon Ball Z Movie 12: Fusion Reborn - A Spectacular Battle Between Goku and Vegeta
Dragon Ball Z Movie 12: Fusion Reborn is the twelfth movie in the Dragon Ball Z series, released in Japan on March 4, 1995. It is also known as Dragon Ball Z: The Fusion of Resurrection!! Goku and Vegeta, or Dragon Ball Z: Revival Fusion. The movie features a thrilling showdown between Goku and Vegeta, who have to fuse together to defeat a powerful enemy named Janemba.
The movie begins with a careless young demon named Saike, who works at the afterlife check-in station. He is supposed to watch over a machine that cleans up the souls of the dead, but he gets distracted by music and causes the machine to explode. The explosion releases a huge amount of evil energy, which transforms Saike into a giant monster called Janemba. Janemba's power disrupts the order of the afterlife, causing the dead to return to life and creating chaos in both the living world and the other world.
Goku and Vegeta, who are both dead at this point, sense Janemba's presence and decide to confront him. They find him at King Yemma's office, where he has trapped King Yemma and his staff inside a jelly-like substance. Goku tries to fight Janemba, but he is easily overpowered by his reality-warping abilities. Vegeta arrives and joins forces with Goku, but they still cannot match Janemba's strength. They realize that their only chance is to use the fusion technique that Goku learned from the Metamorans.
Meanwhile, in the living world, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Videl are fighting against some of the resurrected villains, such as Frieza, Bojack, and Hitler. They manage to hold them off until they are sent back to hell by Shenron, who is summoned by Mr. Satan with the Dragon Balls. Mr. Satan wishes for all the dead people to go back to where they came from.
Back in the other world, Goku and Vegeta attempt to fuse, but they fail twice due to Vegeta's pride and clumsiness. They finally succeed on their third try and become Gogeta, a powerful warrior who combines their best traits. Gogeta easily defeats Janemba with a single punch, restoring Saike to his normal form and fixing the afterlife. Gogeta then splits back into Goku and Vegeta, who share a brief moment of respect before parting ways.
The movie ends with Goku saying goodbye to his friends and family in the living world, as he returns to the other world with Vegeta. He promises to see them again someday.
The movie is based on the Majin Buu Saga of the Dragon Ball Z manga, but it is not part of the main continuity. It takes place after Goku's death in the Cell Games, but before his resurrection in the World Tournament. The movie also features some characters and events that are exclusive to the anime, such as Pikkon and the Other World Tournament. The movie is also notable for being the first appearance of Gogeta, the fusion of Goku and Vegeta using the Fusion Dance.
The movie was released in Japan on March 4, 1995, along with Dragon Ball: The Path to Power, as part of the Toei Anime Fair. It was later dubbed by Funimation and released in North America on March 28, 2006. The movie was also re-released in Japan on December 4, 2018, as part of the Dragon Ball 30th Anniversary Movie Collection.
The movie has received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics. It is praised for its fast-paced action, humor, animation, and music. Some of the criticisms include the lack of plot development, character depth, and originality. The movie is also considered to be one of the most popular and influential Dragon Ball movies, as it inspired several video games, merchandise, and fan works. 9160f4acd4
